Border Requirements

Visa to Mexico

You will first need a valid passport (if you don't have a passport, an original birth certificate not a copy ) and a state driver's license (if you don't have a driver's license, a state issued identification card with picture). For persons who are not U.S. citizens, they must present a resident card and their valid passport from their home country. If you are under 18 years old and are not accompanied by both parents, you must have a notarized Affidavit stating that the group leader is given guardianship for the trip and is authorized to take them to Mexico . There is a one-time visa fee of $28.00. Cash must be paid at the border. However, if you plan on coming seven days or less , there is no visa fee. You must ask for a seven day visa or the border officials may charge you for 6 months or more ! If

Vehicle Permit to Mexico

In order to obtain permission for your vehicle to pass into Mexico, the owner of the vehicle must be present with the current title or registration, U.S. or Canadian driver's license, proof of citizenship (original birth certificate or passport), and a Visa or Mastercard. No Debit Card The name on the credit card must be the same as the one on the title of the vehicle. Also you need to bring photocopies of all your documents to give to the officials including a copy of: visa, driver's license, title, passport, and credit card.

If the vehicle belongs to a church or any other organization, you must have a notarized letter on the church or company letterhead stating that the person driving the vehicle is a member and is authorized to drive the vehicle into Mexico . The driver will also need a church or company I.D. card with church’s name and logo and a picture of the driver, stating that he or she is a member and their position in that of driver. If your church does not issue such cards, you can have one made at Kinko’s or any other copy shop.

If you are bringing a trailer, you will need the trailer registration, which should be in the name of the person driving the vehicle. If the trailer is registered to a church or company name, the driver needs a notarized permission letter from the church that includes the trailer’s plate number and serial number if available.
