Short Term Missions

Dress

**The rule on clothing is casual, comfortable, and modest (see below)

As servants to people of another culture, we must be careful not to offend them by going beyond their standards of decorum, and often we must set the example. We ask you to make modesty a priority in all of the clothing you choose to take along with you. This even applies to the logos and messages that your t-shirts may have. There is no need to have shirts that promote alcohol, drugs, tobacco or questionable musical groups.

In church services and visitation you should dress casual, but slightly more conservative since the Mexican culture dresses this way. During all services, women should wear dresses or skirts, and men should wear pants or jeans. While doing certain jobs at Casa de Esperanza, women may wear conservative sleeveless tops and modest shorts. Although we do ask that you do not wear any halter-tops, spaghetti straps, mid-drift baring shirts, short skirts, and any see through clothing. The rule of thumb is that the more conservative, the better. For men, modest shorts are acceptable in work, rest or when playing with the children and the youth. You should also bring with you some clothes that are suitable for working, that you would not mind getting dirty, sweaty, full of paint, or torn. acceptable in work, rest or when playing with the children and the youth.
