From Houston -- Take 59 south (Victoria/Louise). After Victoria, follow signs for Laredo-Corpus Christi. Take 77 south (Refugio-Corpus Christi). From Refugio, after 35 miles take Highway 37-77 to Corpus Christi-Kingsville. Be careful to take Exit 14 Kingsville-Brownfield and turn right. From there it will be 128 miles to Harlingen toward Brownsville. Exit Ed Cary and continue on the 77 service road. Turn right and go 10 miles to the free-trade international bridge to Mexico called Los Indios. Pay the toll and cross the Rio Grande River.

From Harlingen -- Leave Harlingen on Highway 77 for Brownsville and exit on Cary. Continue on service road, but don't get back on 77. At the next light (FM 509, Paso Real), turn right and go 10 miles to the free-trade international bridge to Mexico called Los Indios. Pay the toll and cross the Rio Grande River.

At the Mexican Border -- If you get a red light, pull into one of the right-hand lanes and let the inspectors check your vehicle. After the border process, keep going straight. Go toward Valle Hermosa. Pass through a bridge. Pass a railway line. Speed limit signs are in kilometers, so be careful because police are watching. Within 25 miles, you will see a sign for Ciudad Victoria-V. Hermoso. Curve left and watch for oncoming traffic. Drive very carefully through a small town called Valle Hermoso. Try to stay in the left lane. Five miles outside of Hermoso you will see an inspection station on the road on the right-hand side. You must stop and show your documents for your vehicle.

Continue from the inspection point on the same road. Watch for Highway 101 and at the intersection take a right toward Ciudad Victoria. Notice the kilometer markers along the right side for No. 254. Pass through a small city called San Germon and watch for kilometer marker 188 and curve left. Keep going straight through Jimez Town at marker 95, then on through the city called Nuevo Padilla. Continue past an electrical power substation on the left side and watch for marker 14. Look for a nine-foot wall with the sign "Casa de Esperanza" on the right-hand side and turn into the gate. If you go to marker 13, you have gone too far and need to turn back.
